Some history...
The story begins in 1950 when Rodrigue Lepine, a door to door sales representative for Fuller products, decides to build the R.E Lepine store in his home in Chicoutimi. In those days, R.E Lepine covered Chicoutimi as well as the Lac St. Jean area.
In the late 1960s, following a continued growth of the company, R.E Lepine moves its facilities to downtown Chicoutimi, on Racine Street.
A few years later, in 1972, the son of Rodrigue Lepine, Marcel, buys the family firm which then employed 8 people. He invests in business development and expands his clientele to a large area on the North Shore.
1978 markes a turning point in history when Marcel Lepine decides to incorporate the R.E Lepine Company; it then becomes Produits Sanitaires Lepine Inc. That same year, Produits Sanitaires Lepine Inc moves the Racine street facilities to the Chicoutimi Industrial Park, on Bersimis street. This is where the company is still located today.
During that year, Marcel Lepine takes a first step towards fulfilling a long time dream, which was to see Lepine branches throughout the province of Quebec. The first associated branch, Lepine & Audet, opens its doors in the town of Dolbeau. Between 1978 and 1985 other branches open in Alma, Baie-Comeau, Chibougamau, Port-Cartier and Rimouski.
In 1985, Marcel Lepine begins a new project. He creates a research and development centre as well as a production department for cleaning products. The company then becomes a manufacturer and will formulate over the years a full range of cleaning products. To date, 85% of the chemical products sold at Produits Sanitaires Lepine Inc were formulated in our laboratories.
From 1985 to 1990, three other branches join Produits Sanitaires Lepine Inc: Quebec City, Lachenaie and Shawinigan (now Trois-Rivieres). And we recently opened a branch in Gatineau.
Following the passing away of Marcel Lepine in November 2008, Guy Côté becomes Chief Executive Officer of Produits Sanitaires Lepine Inc. After more than 30 years with the company, and with his strong sales and senior management expertise, he acquires the company in July 2010.
Today, 60 years later, Produits Sanitaires Lepine Inc has become a leader in the world of maintenance. With over 60 employees in 11 branches, and the manufacturing of most of our cleaning products, the company is proud of what has been accomplished..jpg)
